Wistron and Foxconn are reportedly participating in iPhone manufacturing in India, reported udnnews.com on Jan 25. According to the source, Wistron has acquired about 30% of iPhone orders, while a majority of remaining orders may go to Foxconn and a minority to a local Indian system integrator. Apple representatives are set to meet Indian government officials on January 25 to discuss about how India's policy, such as customs exemption, can help Apple speed up iPhone manufacturing in India. This will likely to affect Apple's progress in launching "Make in India" iPhones in the fourth quarter this year. Having five production bases in India, Foxconn is able to churn out 12 million and 13 million smartphones every year while Wistron is able to help Apple reduce local production costs with its past experience in manufacturing iPhone 5C.
